What is Sketching for Science?
What do we do?
Sketching for science is a company that is looking to transform how science is taught throughout the country.
Curiosity is at the heart of the scientific process. It is an inherently creative endeavor. But education has stifled that creative impulse and made it into a demonstration of how many words you can memorize and how well can you account for data.
Sketching for Science shows you how to keep the creative aspect in your science class while also improving student achievement on standardized tests.
We teach students, teachers and anyone interested how to sketch.
We mentor teachers in how to create meaningful lab experiences where students develop their science journal, a key tool in making engaging scientific exploration.
We develop science curriculum to transform science education from stuffy memorization of vocabulary into a dynamic and student driven experience.
We work with English Language Learners to help them build scientific knowledge and convey their ideas even as they are developing as English speakers.

About me
My name is Selim Tlili. I am a veteran science teacher.
I discovered the joy of sketching in my 40s and it transformed my teaching. Students retain more of what they learn and, more important, pay more attention to the world around them.
I’m fluent in multiple languages and help students to express themselves in the language of science.
